About Us

Bukhari Community Centre & Masjid

The Bukhari Community Centre was established as a beacon of hope and guidance in the nation’s capital. Understanding the profound need for a space where both the youth and elderly can engage with communities, our centre offers a haven for learning and spiritual nourishment. We are committed to fostering an environment where everyone can reach their full potential while promoting unity and faith. Our centre is not just a building; it’s a promise of enlightenment and inclusive support.

Our Mission

Our mission is to build a foundation that guides our community through services promoting knowledge and practice, supporting the spiritual and moral development of all individuals, and actively working to dismantle barriers that hinder equal access and opportunities.

Our Vision

Bukhari Community Centre aims to be a cornerstone of excellence, where our commitment to core values illuminates the path toward a thriving, inclusive, and united community.

What have we done so far?

We have invested over $50,000 in renovations, including electrical work, carpentry, new carpeting, lighting, microphones, speakers, cameras, office enhancements, and other miscellaneous items.

Our renovation efforts have transformed the centre with fresh carpeting and updated lighting, while also removing outdated structures to create a more contemporary and welcoming environment. The entire facility has been given a new coat of paint, adding a bright and refreshed look. We’ve installed new front and back doors, enhancing both security and accessibility. All electrical upgrades have been carried out in strict adherence to City of Ottawa bylaws, ensuring that our improvements meet the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

Our Future Projects

Educational and Spiritual Growth

We are planning to conduct monthly lectures in the English and Somali language, alongside Quran classes and Islamic classes tailored specifically for mothers (Hooyo’s) residing in Ottawa.

Youth Engagement

We aim to launch a basketball and soccer program for the Youth, providing them with a chance to learn, play, and engage with the community.

Community Enrichment

We aim to add more classes for personal development, organize camping trips for children, and provide counseling sessions for families to support their well-being.

Religious Sessions

Quran classes will be available for both children and adults.

Infrastructure Development

A major goal is to secure land for a larger facility. This expansion will enable us to better serve and support our community’s spiritual and educational needs for years to come.

Social Programs

We will expand our Sisters’ Program  to a weekly schedule and invite more participants to join our breakfast program, promoting community bonding and support.
